Sansibars Traum-Strände an der Ostküste
Nach ein, zwei Tagen in Stone Town schwärmen die meisten Besucher in die Strandhotels aus. Nördlich von Stone Town befinden sich einige einfache Gästehäuser, die jedoch eher als Wochenendausflugsziel als für längere Aufenthalte geeignet sind. Auch die Westküste ist wegen ihrer nicht so malerischen Strände touristisch weniger beliebt.
Aber entlang der Ostküste entstanden in den letzten Jahren eine Vielzahl von Strandhotels, vom Familienbetrieb bis zum ausgewachsenen Feriendorf. Kein Wunder - Sansibars Strände sind von einer Makellosigkeit, wie sie sonst nur noch die Seychellen zu bieten haben: der Sand weiß und fein wie Talkum, so dass er selbst in der Mittagshitze kühl bleibt. Zum Tauchen ist der Indische Ozean hier traumhaft.

Matemwe Bungalows
A visit to Matemwe Bungalows, situated in the rural northeast of Zanzibar, is a perfect mix of relaxation and excitement. Their 17 eco-bungalows are built from local materials in harmony with the surroundings, each with a personal touch and directly overlooking the Indian Ocean. From the comfort of a hammock on your private veranda, you can enjoy the comings and goings of the local Ngalawa fishing fleet. Each bungalow has its own solar power for hot water and lighting.
Meals are served in Matemwe’s el-fresco restaurant, overlooking the Indian Ocean. Shooting Star Inn
Shooting Star Inn is a small, relaxed, family run hotel, located on the eastern side of Zanzibar. Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel
In Ras Nungwi, dem Fischerdorf ganz am Nordzipfel der Insel, leben die Bootsbauer der bekanntesten sansibarischen Dhau-Werften. Am allerschönsten wird die Insel, wo die Straße abrupt ins weiche Bett einer schneeweißen Sandpiste übergeht. Beispiel Bwejuu im Osten, ein Traumstrand südlich der Chwaka Bay. Nur von wenigen Mangroven und steinigen Stellen unterbrochen, erstrecken sich Sansibars Ostküstenstrände über die gesamte Länge der Insel. Wie ein breiter, blendend weißer Küsten-Highway zieht sich der Strand zwischen türkisgrünem Meer und Palmen dahin. Bei Ebbe kann man ein, zwei Kilometer bis zur Riffkante hinaus wandern.
An der Nordspitze Sansibars liegt ein Spitzenhotel, das Ras Nungwi Beach Resort Hotel. Es lohnt sich wirklich, einen Blick in den Hotelprospekt zu werfen. Es ist ein Resort im edlen Ethnic Style, direkt am Strand sowie am vorgelagerten Korallen Riff.
Ras Nungwi Beach Hotel is located on the northern tip of the island. The bungalows are built from hand-cut fossilised coral limestone and other natural materials and great attention has been paid to the detail of the interior design of the 32 rooms. Nungwi village is a small fishing village located on the north-east tip of Zanzibar and has one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is a deep beach that means there is good swimming even at low tide and there are some local restaurants that serve the most delicious fresh fish for lunch. After lunch it is possible to see the local craftsmen constructing dhows, which are still crafted in the traditional manner of centuries of old.
