Ancient piece of thailand

The 8 million town belongs to the most exotic and most dynamic cities of the world.

Skyscrapers and gold-shiny temple-buildings shape the cityscape. Biggest and eldest temple of Bangkok is the Wat Po.

Looking at the visitors, so one can recognize first how big this Buddha-statue is in reality. She is 46 m long. 108 mother-of-pearl-ornaments at the soles teach over the qualities of a Buddha. That Wat is center of a movement for the teaching of the traditional Thai-medicine, one can have itself also massaged there.

Bangkok is full of surprises. In Chinatown, we find a relatively small temple in a side street amid an old residential-area. A gigantic Buddha-Statue stands. She is not - like usually - gold plateted but she consists of pure gold, in fact of 5 tons of gold. Although the old Siam was conquered in the last centuries by hostile neighbors several times, it remained undetected, that the statue consisted of pure gold. Monks had plastered the statue with mortar and had gilt it, so that nobody discovered the truth. We ourselves could view some plastered areas.

Completely near the Wat Powades fanny is Thailand's knownest temple-buildings, that Wat Phra Kaeo. His formation-year 1782 coincides together with the foundation of the city and the ruling Chakri-Dynastie.

In the Bot sits the mystic Smaragd-Buddha in state on a high altar.

Believer from around the world bring Buddha small sacrifices.
