South of Phuket in the Andaman Sea the island Ko Hei Coral Island is located.

In the native travel agency, in which we have booked a days trip to Coral Island, they showed us a brochure with a beautiful big ship, that we would take.

In the night before the trip, a storm came up so that we considered ourselves seriously to cancel the trip. But we were finally picked up and drove to a hidden lying coastal-strip and halted in the lonesome bay in order to go on board. The bus was away meanwhile. The area was rather bold. A stranded half boat lay around, just as old oil barrels.

Into this God-abandoned area, no big ship came, but a small sport-boat for approximately 6 passengers. And immediately, without a chance to refuse, they started. Swim vest on, hands on the small reeling and the sport-boat drove with full-speed through the stirred Andanman-Sea.

On Coral Island, everything was different to what we had dreamed of it. No lonesome island but a long row of motorboats had aimed in the reef. At the beach there was a snackbar and a lot of old deck chairs from wood and canvas. Unfortunately, we have not photographed the following scene. In several rows, Japanese tourists sat in full clothing in these ancient-deck chairs and looked quietly and irked on the sea.

When I asked someone about a good possibility to the snorkel in the sea, he pointed at a delimited part in the water to the right. Hopefully, I began to snorkel, but there was nothing to see. The corals had perished, the water was nature-misty. There was nothing to see at all, nowhere. That was the end of our dream of coral island.
